We weighed, measured and packed three colorways of this $7.91 cotton crewneck. It folded flat, cushioned a boxed figure through three drops, and left the sizing question where the brand-level reports left it.

What we ordered, and why it landed on the bench
The listing for this MLB multi-color T-shirt collection is a dropdown, not a single garment: SKU 7718818098, 37 colour codes across black and white, sizes S through XXXL, priced at $7.91 against a listed original of $8.45. We ordered three codes — 946 black in L, 907 white in S, and 969 white Year of the Horse in XXXL — because a beginner's real problem with a listing this wide is not picking a tee, it is confirming that the code you tapped matches the photo you were looking at.
Two agent messages were needed to confirm that 969 white maps to the Year of the Horse graphic and not to the plain white 970. That is not a fault in the tee; it is the usual cost of a 37-code dropdown where most codes name a shade rather than a print.
The bench numbers
We logged caliper readings on the garment itself rather than trusting the 180–250 g range in the spec sheet. The size L black weighed 196 g on our postal scale, which sits where a mid-weight cotton knit should. The collar rib measured 2.14 mm across the folded edge; the hem stitch ran 2.0 mm wide; the screen print stood 0.26 mm proud of the fabric on 946 black and 0.31 mm on the white 907.
| Measurement (size L, flat) | Reading |
|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 53.0 cm |
| Body length, HPS to hem | 71.5 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 46.0 cm |
| Sleeve, from shoulder seam | 21.0 cm |
| Weight | 196 g |
The listing allows a 1–2 cm tolerance, so treat those numbers as one garment, not as the size chart. The larger problem is that the captured listing data gives sizes and that tolerance but no per-size chest table — the number a first-time buyer actually needs before paying an agent.
How it packed into the reference load
Our standing load is a padded box, a folded garment and a boxed figure. This tee was the folded garment. Folded to 24 × 16 × 3 cm it went into a 30 × 22 × 12 cm carton, leaving 1.9 L of void, and the cotton compressed enough to sit against the boxed figure without a hard edge anywhere. We closed with 48 mm tape in an H pattern, three strips, and photographed the closure: lid gap 1 mm, no bulge at the corners.
For anyone assembling a beginner's first parcel, that is the practical finding. A 196 g cotton tee at this price is cheap void fill that still has to be worn afterwards, and it does the job a sheet of bubble wrap does — without the crinkle and without a second order.
The drop routine
Corner, edge, face, from waist height onto flat concrete. The carton's lower corner crushed 4 mm; the tee inside showed no marking, no print cracking and no seam distortion. The print took the compression better on the black 946 than on the white 907, where a light scuff of 2 mm appeared on one fold line and did not come out with a cold press. If you are packing a white code as a gift, put a paper interleaf on the printed face.
Fit, and the two reports that cancel each other
Buyer reports on MLB-branded tops split cleanly. One source describes the brand as running loose, with buyers sizing down; a second describes Nike-made MLB tees running small, with a regular L needing an XL. Neither is a test of this tee, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is what the tape says: our L measured 53 cm across the chest and 71.5 cm down the body, and a 2 cm swing on that chest figure is the difference between a relaxed drape and a boxy one.
Order one size and measure it against a tee you already like before committing a second code to the same parcel. The shoulder is the number to check first, because the loose-fit wording hides a fairly set shoulder line at 46 cm.
Care and the two claims we could not settle
We washed the 946 black at 30 °C, no dryer, and re-measured: body length down 0.8 cm, chest down 0.5 cm. That is normal cotton relaxation, not the severe shrinkage reported by one MLB official-flagship customer on a different MLB top — a complaint we keep on file but cannot transfer to this garment.
The antibacterial function is stated in the listing and appears nowhere on the garment we received. We are recording it as an unverified catalogue claim. Likewise the brand field: the marketplace entry says MLB, while the underlying spec sheet names the brand as Mubai. Order by colour code and photograph, not by the brand line.
How we would order it
- Pick the code that matches the photo you want, then confirm it with the agent in one message — 969 versus 970 is exactly the kind of pair that gets mixed.
- Ask for the flat chest and body length for your size before paying; the listing's 1–2 cm tolerance is not a substitute for those two numbers.
- If you are buying two or more, put the white code on the outside of the bundle and interleaf the print.
At $7.91 for 100% cotton in a size that will genuinely fill a corner of a parcel, this is one of the easier beginner add-ons we have put through the bench. It is a good tee with an unhelpful listing behind it, and the difference between those two things is a tape measure and one message to your agent.
Comment nous avons testé
Three colorways ordered — 946 black in L, 907 white in S, 969 white Year of the Horse in XXXL. Calipers on collar rib, hem and print; 196 g on the scale for the L. Packed as the folded garment in the reference load, closure photographed, then corner, edge and face drops from waist height.
