What this desk does

Ponybuy Starter Notes covers the first purchase a beginner makes and the parcel that follows it. We buy the starter kits, packing materials, label printers, and workflow tools ourselves, and we test them on one bench in Rotterdam. Our testing team orders each item at full price, records dispatch and agent reply times, packs a fixed reference load, and writes up the result in plain language for someone doing this for the first time.

How we got started

The site began in 2021 as a shared notes file between three editors who kept answering the same beginner questions about order sequencing, consolidation, and customs paperwork. The notes file became a checklist, the checklist became a review format, and the format is what you read now. We are a small publisher, not a marketplace, and we do not sell any of the products we cover.

The team

Elena Marsh runs the desk and writes the workflow guides. Daniel Okoye handles hands-on product reviews and packaging tests. Sofia Brandt runs research: agent timing logs, shipping tables, and the comparison data behind each score. Author pages on this site are the only profiles we maintain.

What we publish

  • Beginner purchase sequences, from first order to final parcel check
  • Hands-on reviews of packing materials, boxes, labels, and starter kits
  • Agent timing records and comparison tables built from our own message logs
  • Parcel preparation checklists for consolidation, labelling, and paperwork

Corrections are welcome and are handled under our corrections policy. Write to editorial@pony-buy.org.

Elena Marsh

Elena Marsh

Beginner purchase sequencing, consolidation planning, customs paperwork basics, and the editorial standards behind every score on the site.
Editor-in-Chief

Elena Marsh runs Ponybuy Starter Notes from Rotterdam, where she founded the desk in 2021. She spent nine years in freight documentation and small-parcel operations before moving to editorial work, and she still writes the order-sequencing guides herself. Her rule for the site is simple: a beginner should be able to follow a checklist once and get the parcel right the first time, without a phone call.

Daniel Okoye

Daniel Okoye

Hands-on packaging tests, carton construction, tape adhesion, corner crush measurement, and label printing checks.
Reviews Editor

Daniel Okoye runs the Rotterdam bench and writes the hands-on reviews. He came to the desk from a packaging QA role at a household-goods importer, where he spent five years opening damaged parcels and working out which layer failed. He photographs every seam and corner before and after the drop routine, and he keeps the damaged units in a labelled bin for retest comparison. He joined Ponybuy Starter Notes in 2022.

Sofia Brandt

Sofia Brandt

Agent response timing, dispatch tracking, comparison table design, and the data behind every published score.
Research Editor

Sofia Brandt keeps the timing logs and the comparison tables that sit under each review. She spent six years as a research analyst tracking service response times before joining the desk in 2021, and she brought the three-message timing test with her: one simple question, one follow-up, one clarification, all timestamped. If a table column is more than six months old, she is the one who flags it for retest.
